Note from André: As you read this policy, which is required by laws about cookies and data collection, please remember that I am just a guy making YouTube videos from his basement at home. I am not a big company and I do NOT sell your data. It is needed if you order something like a t-shirt, or enter a raffle. Thank you.
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 1, 2026
Last Updated: September 2, 2026
At EV-olution ("we," "us," or "our"), we are committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit www.ev-olution.ca, create an account, or make a purchase.
This policy complies with the strict standards set by Canada's PIPEDA and Québec's Law 25.
1. Information We Collect
We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when registering for a member account, expressing interest in obtaining information about our products or services, or making a purchase.
The personal information we collect may include:
- Identity Data: First name and last name.
- Contact Data: Mailing address, billing address, email address, and phone number.
- Account Data: Username, password, and purchase history.
- Technical Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and data collected via cookies (see Section 4).
- Payment Information: We do not collect, process, or store your credit card details or financial information on our servers. All payment transactions are securely handed off to and processed by our third-party payment gateways (Stripe or PayPal).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information for the following specific purposes:
- To fulfill and manage orders: Processing payments, shipping products, and providing order updates.
- To manage user accounts: Creating and maintaining your member profile and providing access to member-restricted content.
- To communicate with you: Sending administrative information, responding to inquiries, and offering customer support.
- To improve our website: Analyzing usage trends and site performance to enhance user experience.
3. Consent
Under Law 25, consent must be clear, free, informed, and given for specific purposes. By providing us with your personal information to complete a transaction, verify your credit card, place an order, or create an account, you consent to our collecting and using it for that specific reason only.
If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason (like marketing), we will ask you directly for your expressed consent and provide you with an opportunity to say no.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use essential cookies to keep your shopping cart working and to keep you signed in to the dashboard (staff only). These are necessary for the site to function and are not used to track, profile, or identify you for any other purpose.
The site also uses two third-party services that may set their own cookies: Google reCAPTCHA (to prevent spam on our contact form) and an embedded Instagram feed. We do not run any advertising trackers or analytics tools that build a profile of you. Under Québec's Law 25, any technology used to identify, locate, or profile you must be off by default - we don't use any such technology on this site.
5. Sharing and Disclosure of Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information only in the following situations:
- Payment Processors: When you make a purchase, your payment is processed directly through third-party payment gateways (such as Stripe or PayPal). We share only the necessary order details (such as your name and the transaction amount) to facilitate the payment. The processing of your financial data is governed exclusively by the respective privacy policies of those providers.
- Service Providers: We may share non-financial data with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf (e.g., website hosting, email delivery, or shipping partners). These third parties are contractually bound to protect your data and only use it for the intended operational purpose.
- Legal Obligations: We may disclose your information where legally required to do so in order to comply with applicable law, governmental requests, or a judicial proceeding.
6. Cross-Border Data Transfers
Your personal information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in locations outside of Québec or Canada - for example, by our payment processor (PayPal, and Stripe in the future) or web hosting provider. Before sharing information this way, we assess whether the recipient will provide protection for your information that is comparable to what's required under Québec's Law 25, and we rely on major, established providers who are contractually bound to protect your data.
7. Data Retention and Security
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy or as required by law.
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, destruction, or alteration. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Under PIPEDA and Law 25, you hold specific rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Access: You have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: You can request that we correct or update any inaccurate, incomplete, or unlawfully-collected personal data, including having it deleted where its collection or use was not authorized.
- Destruction of Your Data: We destroy or anonymize your personal information once the purpose for which it was collected has been fulfilled, subject to any legal retention requirements (for example, tax or accounting records).
- Right to De-indexation (a Limited "Right to be Forgotten"): In specific circumstances - where information about you is being unlawfully disseminated, or its continued availability causes you serious injury that outweighs the public's interest in knowing it or the public's right to freedom of expression - you may request that it be de-indexed or that its dissemination cease. This is a narrower right than a general right to delete any information at any time.
- Right to Data Portability: You have the right to receive the personal data you provided to us, in a structured, commonly used technological format, so it can be transferred elsewhere.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw your consent for us to process your data at any time, acknowledging that this may affect your ability to use certain features of the site (e.g., maintaining a member account, making a purchase).
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below.
9. Person Responsible for the Protection of Your Personal Information
